Proximity Switch Option
ML1 and ML1 PlusR can be fitted with a proximity switch.
For listening distances from say 2.5 metres down to 1.5 metres
a proximity switch may be required.
Why?
The ML1's PRC Xover includes room or power response
correction. For this to work correctly you need to get back around
3 or more metres away from them. As you move closer to the speakers
they virtually sound more and more like headphones and our PRC correction
works less.
The proximity switch re-integrates the PRC formula so that it works
for a listener positioned at a closer distance. Switch it to the left for
normal room conditions and right for closer listening distances.
This option costs AUD $150
A mini-monitor loudspeaker, by virtue of its small size, offers
many benefits when it comes to accurate sound reproduction - like
superb stereo imaging, low colouration and natural voice tones.
Typically, they also have some weaknesses - limited bass output
and extension, and restricted power handling - that have made
owning them a compromise.
With the ML1, we have sought to maximise the inherent strengths
of the design while all but eliminating its weaknesses. Its ported
and braced cabinet, constructed from a composite material, plus
the massively-engineered crossover and premium quality drivers
give it a bottom end that will astound you - most listeners ask
where the subwoofer is!
More importantly, its utterly neutral and uncoloured sound, transparency
and sheer musicality knows no equal at or anywhere near its price.
Owners who have upgraded to the ML1 from some of the world's most
revered speaker designs tell us just that!
